Trezor helps you take full control of your cryptocurrencies by storing your private keys offline. Whether you're new to crypto or a seasoned user, this guide will walk you through everything you need to get started.

Step 1: Unbox Your Trezor Device
Inside your Trezor box, you should find:
- Your Trezor device (Model T or Trezor One)
- USB cable
- Recovery seed cards
- Instruction manual
- Stickers
🔒 Check security seals: Make sure your box is sealed and has not been tampered with. If anything looks suspicious, contact Trezor support before using the device.
Step 2: Download Trezor Suite
To begin, download Trezor Suite, the official desktop app for managing your crypto:

Trezor Suite is available for:
- Windows
- macOS
- Linux
You can also use the web version, but the desktop app is recommended for better security and privacy.
🛡️ Tip: Always download software directly from the official Trezor site. Never use links from third parties or social media.
Step 3: Connect Your Trezor
Once Trezor Suite is installed:
- Open the application.
- Connect your Trezor device via USB.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
If this is your first time using the device, you will be prompted to:
- Install firmware (if not already pre-installed)
- Create a new wallet or recover an existing one
Trezor Suite will guide you step-by-step through the entire process.
Step 4: Create a New Wallet
To create a new wallet:
- Choose "Create new wallet" when prompted.
- Your device will generate a 12- or 24-word recovery seed.
- Write down the seed on the provided recovery card. Do not take photos or save it digitally.
This recovery seed is the only way to restore your wallet if your device is lost, damaged, or stolen.
⚠️ Never share your recovery seed. Anyone who has it can access your crypto.
Step 5: Set a PIN and (Optional) Passphrase
- Create a PIN to protect access to your device.
- For added security, you can set up an optional passphrase, which acts like a 25th word to your recovery seed and creates a hidden wallet.
🔐 Security Tip: Use a unique, strong passphrase and store it separately from your seed.
Step 6: Add Accounts and Coins
Trezor Suite supports over 1,000 cryptocurrencies, including:
- Bitcoin (BTC)
- Ethereum (ETH)
- Litecoin (LTC)
- Cardano (ADA)
- ERC-20 tokens (e.g., USDT, LINK, UNI)
You can now:
- Add new accounts
- View balances
- Send and receive crypto
- Monitor your portfolio
All transactions must be confirmed on your device, ensuring maximum security.
Step 7: Explore Trezor Suite Features
Trezor Suite offers powerful tools to help you manage your crypto with confidence:
- Buy & exchange crypto directly in the app
- Enable Tor for privacy
- Use coin control to select specific UTXOs
- View and label transaction history
- Use dark/light mode for comfort
Your private keys never leave your Trezor device, keeping your crypto fully protected.
Recovering a Wallet
If you’ve lost your device but still have your recovery seed:
- Connect a new or reset Trezor.
- Select "Recover wallet" in Trezor Suite.
- Enter your seed words using the on-screen prompts.
✅ Reminder: Only enter your recovery seed directly on your device, never on your computer or online.
